Color is a great way to personalize your new home from Hartz Homes. However, choosing a color for a particular room or deciding on color combinations can sometimes be a challenge.  Hartz Homes would like to share a few suggestions that can make picking colors more enjoyable and rewarding.

Color Scheme

Have fun looking for colors in your new Hartz Home! Color choices are personal so choose what you like and feels right to you. A great way to come up with a color scheme is to start looking for room elements like furniture, fabrics, tile and accessories. Resist the urge to pick a paint color solely based on how much it costs.

Choosing colors within the same family or value can help a room from feeling too busy when using multiple colors. Instead the room or rooms will have a sense of flow. Choose one light, dark and bright color. It is up to you to determine which color you prefer to become the dominant.

Lighting

Consider the lighting or the amount of light that is in your room when choosing your colors, because color is a reflection of light. Experiment with your decorating elements inside the rooms. The light in your rooms whether it is natural, recessed or lamp light will change the way the colors look in your room. Fluorescent lamps create a bluer light while incandescent lamps have a warmer light than sunlight.

Choose your Hue

Choosing or committing to a color can be a little intimidating inside your new home. If color scares you, then choose a neutral background and add color within your color scheme. Your fabrics, furniture, rugs, pillows, etc. are great ways to bring in your color scheme of choice. Artwork is another way to add color to a room without fully committing to one on your walls. Personal collections can also act as a color element in a room. Group these items together to create a pop of color.

If you are choosing a color for an open floor, look for places to stop the color like transition areas such as door, window, etc. If you are using a color scheme, then use one color for the walls, another for the trim and another for the ceiling. Adding molding as well as rugs will help to define a space in an open plan.
