Hartz Construction Co, Inc. (the company behind Hartz Homes) was once again awarded the highest rating for reliability, trustworthiness, and ethical business practices. Hartz earned an A+ rating, the most exclusive overall rating given by the Better Business Bureau.
The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is a non-profit consumer protection agency. Their A+ rating is a testament to the success and longevity of Hartz Construction and to the quality of homes they build.
Hartz Construction strictly adheres to the BBB Standards for Trust, the eight principles that sum up the important elements for maintaining a trustworthy business: build trust, advertise honestly, tell the truth, be transparent, honor promises, be responsive, safeguard privacy, and embody integrity. The eight principles are the foundation for the BBB Code of Business Practices and the BBB Code of Advertising, which Hartz Construction has pledged to follow.
In making the assessment for its rating, the BBB put Hartz Construction through an intense review of its business practices that included:
• How long Hartz has been operating
• Whether Hartz has appropriate competency licensing
• Total volume of complaints filed against Hartz
• The number of unanswered complaints
• The number of unresolved complaints
• The number of serious complaints
• An overall complaint analysis
• Number of complaints with a delayed resolution
• Failure to address pattern of complaints
• Any government actions against Hartz
• Any advertising issues found by BBB
• Background information available to BBB for evaluation
• A clear understanding of the business practices
• Whether Hartz has any mediation/arbitration commitments
In most cases, according to the BBB, complaint history drives a business’s letter-grade rating. Nearly 85 percent of the scoring is determined by consumer-reported complaints that have been verified and evaluated by the BBB over the previous 36 months. Hartz had very few complaints (highly rare for a home builder) and, importantly, each one was handled quickly and resolved fairly.
The BBB is one of the largest and most respected independent business review organizations in North America. In the age of Yelp, Google Places, and all the online rating sites, the BBB is the one you can depend on. Yelp and all the others can have friends and family post glowing reviews and competitors can post negative reviews, so it is hard to really tell what is authentic and what is advising or slander.
