We want to make your visit to the Hartz Homes Design Center fun! We want to help your family squeeze the most out of your home and deliver a home that reflects your tastes and your family’s lifestyle.
Our knowledgeable design staff are more like design gurus. They’ve helped hundreds of families just like yours decorate and design their Hartz Homes.
Visiting Before Buying
We’d love to have every homeowner visit our Design Center before their appointment. We really would. But what we’ve found is visiting ahead of your appointment can actually work against making the appointment easier.
Since our design studio experts are busy attending to the needs of their appointments that day, there usually isn’t someone available to answer questions you might have. That can be frustrating and we want this to be fun! And, when it’s your turn in the Design Center, you won’t want other customers interrupting your session.
So, instead of visiting to see what we offer, we suggest gathering examples of things you find inspiring from magazines, online websites and even Pinterest (we have our own Pinterest pages that can help, too!)
Arriving at your Design Center appointment armed with your design ideas and desires makes your appointment that much smoother because it gives our Design Center experts visual ideas of what YOU like. We can then guide you and your family to the design solutions that make the most sense.
If you are looking for general pricing before your appointment, your new home sales counselor (who sold you the home) should be able to give price ranges for the basic selections. We want you to have the knowledge so that you feel in control of this process.
Setting Your Budget
Everyone’s budget is different, so understanding what you can afford is a very important part of the design process. It allows our designers to make sure that your budget is evenly allocated across your entire home. Certain options definitely cost more than others. That’s why we’re here. To help you decide what makes sense for your budget.

As we stated before, arriving at your Design Center appointment armed with your design ideas and desires makes your appointment go that much smoother because it gives our Design Center experts visual ideas of what YOU like. We use that information to help guide you and your family to the design solutions that make the most sense.
We suggest that you and your family gather examples of things you find inspiring. Creating a file of these inspiration points can help our Design Center experts visually understand what your taste in design is and how we can turn those selections into the home you’ve always wanted.
Where can you gather these design ideas? As we said before, you can turn to magazines, online websites and Pinterest. Another great source is to visit our models and take pictures…LOTS of pictures! This can help you get a general idea of styles, colors and textures that you and your family like. It also gives you a comprehensive understanding of the options available at the Hartz Homes Design Center.
And remember, you can expect to spend up to a few hours in our design studio, picking out your finishes and options for your home. It may seem like a lot of time, but it goes by fast!
What’s Most Important?
With so many decisions in front of you and choices for you to contemplate, it only makes sense to start prioritizing what’s most important for your new home.
So, what’s most important?
Actually, there’s no “one size fits all” answer to that question. What’s important to you and your family might not be important to your friends, neighbors or relatives. Ultimately, you and your family must decide what’s most important for YOUR home. We suggest that you make a list of what you’d like to accomplish in your new home.
What should that list look like? We’d suggest starting by examining your lifestyle. Do you entertain? What are the needs of your growing family? Do your older children need more room to call their own? Do you have pets? Do you care about your resale value?
