Singles weave seamlessly into Lago Vista lifestyle
Active-adult community in Lockport blends safe and lively community atmosphere with dynamic new homes

Pat Evans remembers the day her life changed for the better: April 16, 2008, the day she closed on her new townhome in Lago Vista.

On the heels of a divorce, friends and family urged Evans to move from her Homer Glen residence into an environment better suiting a single woman — something safe, they urged, something that did not require so much upkeep. She looked at condos and townhomes throughout the Southland, but nothing captured her interest. Eventually, she took a peek at Lago Vista, Lockport’s active-adult community from Hartz Homes. Once there, Evans found home.

“It was a whole different world when I turned into Lago Vista. It had reasonably priced homes and an assortment of amenities I just didn’t think I’d find,” Evans said.

At Lago Vista, Evans, who still works part-time at a local beauty salon, has found a dynamic and comfortable new home, a friendly, picturesque community, maintenance-free living, an active, reenergized life, and dozens of new friends.

“I moved in on a Tuesday and by Monday I was playing in a bocce ball league with total strangers who have now become good friends,” said Evans, who also participates in five exercise classes each week, is the treasurer of her townhome association, and partakes in the Lago Vista gardening club.

For many singles like Evans, Lago Vista offers the ideal mix of safety and substance, environment and energy. Residents can do as much or as little as they like, she said, but the community’s warm, inviting nature inspires a better life and happy living.

“There couldn’t be a better place to be single. I could be out seven days a week with all the opportunities that come my way,” Evans said.

Evans’ story pleases Hartz Homes’ Phil Hartz, who developed Lago Vista to be precisely what Evans has described — a community filled with spirited living and well-crafted, cozy homes.

“Our foremost goal with Lago Vista was to create an environment where enjoying life came first and foremost,” Hartz said. “Residents here not only get a quality new home with maintenance-free offerings, but the opportunity to be a part of a special and lively community atmosphere.”

At Lago Vista, an age-restricted community where one household member must be 55, Hartz Homes offers townhomes and single-family homes alongside an enlivened atmosphere.

Lago Vista buyers select from one of five single-family ranch homes starting at $232,400 or three townhome plans starting at $199,900. All homes include 2-3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, a two-car garage, all major appliances, oak trim and doors, 9-foot ceilings, and irrigation system. Through August 31, 2010, Lago Vista buyers can take advantage of the City of Lockport’s Residential Economic Stimulus Program, which grants buyers of a new Lockport residence up to $10,000 at closing.

Club Lago, the community’s 21,000-square foot clubhouse, functions as the community’s social center. The clubhouse features an indoor and outdoor pool, beauty salon, sports lounge, arts-and-craft room, spa facilities, fitness and aerobic areas, library, and recreation area with juice bar.

“There’s a life to be had at Lago Vista unlike anything else around,” said Lago Vista sales manager Lauri Kubinski, who is a community resident herself.
